Giving Thanks!

Victoria Healthy People Board of Directors is thankful to share that our non-profit has obtained approval by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a Registered Charity (BN 75409 4084). As a Canadian registered charitable organization, we will now be able to offer tax deductible receipts for the remainder of 2021 and onwards. We are thrilled that our health education and community service is recognized by the Government of Canada as charitable. This is a huge step in helping support our purpose statements which are:

1.    To promote health by developing and delivering holistic health and wellness information, workshops, and counselling for the public.

2.    To promote health by protecting and maintaining public health through the operation of cooking and exercise classes for the public.

3.    To undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the aforementioned charitable activities.

In support of our purpose, we are excited to announce that we will be offering free and low-cost events via Zoom. Watch your email for announcements! If you don’t receive our emails, please sign-up on our website here. We send communication up to twice a month typically.

We miss interacting with each of you in-person, however we have plans for some exciting new opportunities starting later this month and in January 2022. Our first few Zoom events will allow for both a presentation and interactive health and wellness education.

We are so thrilled that we will also be able to remotely offer health education at William Head Institution, where we have had a presence for a number of years. We miss our in-person weekly study groups and monthly meals with the men and look forward to serving again in a meaningful way.

In closing, we want to give thanks to each of you who have supported Victoria Healthy People Society by volunteering, attending, donating, and participating in our events through the years. Your gift of time, talents, financial support and participation have blessed many lives.

Here is a personal story of one of our participants: “After attending a number of health presentations and movie screenings, I decided to try a whole food, plant-based and oil free diet. Within 2 months, my rheumatoid arthritis in my hands was reversed. I’m medication free and my doctor wanted to know what I did! My husband and children love the food too!”

Cecilia one of our amazing participants, she shared her personal journey with her co-workers in the federal government run institution. Victoria Healthy People was invited to do a lunch and learn. We had two physicians and a nurse who present and responded to questions from the thirty-one attendees. As a follow-up, a Canada-wide press release with photographs was sent internally within this organization about the positive effects seen in this work-site by dietary and lifestyle changes adapted by many participants.

Today, we are appealing to each of you, our valued supporters to partner with us to continue to provide quality health education for the community on the journey towards ‘living their best life’. Your generous donation today, will help us reach an even larger audience and continue to transform lives.
